Commonly referred to as “the race that stops a nation”, the Melbourne Cup is in a class of its own. Generally regarded as the most prestigious “two-mile” handicap anywhere in the world, it is undoubtedly the highlight of Australia’s rich Spring Racing Carnival. The event, on the first Tuesday in November, draws in excess of 100,000 fans from all over the world.
